Crabs in a bucket

I was on a forum today where a writer announced his June income. 10k. Pretty nice!

But instead of pats on the back or asking for pearls of wisdom, the crabs in the bucket at that forum just decided to drag him down. Questioning whether the amount was true…thinking that it couldn’t possibly be true….yada yada yada. It was really quite disheartening.

Yes, if you’re selling articles for $3 to $5 each, then you’ll be hard-pressed to earn $10,000 in a single month.

But if you are good at what you do (writing) and good at selling your services, then sure as hell you can hit the 10k mark. I don’t doubt that for a minute.

Why is it that instead of being motivated, people get nasty?

There’s enough work to spread around, people. No need for the attitude.

Find your niche. Write well. Market yourself. Know your worth and make sure you don’t compromise (much). Stick with it and in time you’ll find your groove and the money will come rolling in. It’s work, but if it’s work you love, then feel blessed.
