I am surrounded by lazy people…

Listen up, people! I’ve had it up to here (hand motioning at neck, in a “chop off your head” sort of way) with lazy freakin’ people.

My issue of the day?

Shopping carts.

And the fools that can’t seem to grasp the concept…wait, this is a really difficult concept to grasp, so brace yourself…the concept that you are supposed to take the cart back.

To the front of the store. To the cart corral in the parking lot.

I’m not picky. You can choose whichever works for you. But pick one.

Leaving the cart next to your car is LAZY.

Leaving the cart behind the car next to you is LAZY and a complete jerk-off move.

I don’t care if you’re handicapped. Because if you are, you’re already parked up front, so you’re right next to the store. And if you can’t juggle store items and a cart, then you can easily ask for help from a store employee. So, no excuse for you.

I don’t care if you have kids. I have a kid. And yet somehow I find a way to put the carts back where they belong. You have choices. Put kids in car and then put cart back. Or, because there are freaks out there, take the kid(s) with you to the cart corral. Leave the cart and then take the kids back to the car. Easy enough. I’ve done it. And I can be a fairly lazy person at times.

Leaving carts is not only lazy, it’s dangerous. Carts roll. They can roll into people, into cars. Cars trying to park and then swerving out of a cart’s way (because the freakin’ cart shouldn’t be there!!) can hit a person or hit another car.

Get the idea?

I would love to hear from someone who has a single legitimate reason for ever leaving a cart in the lot without securing it. Because other than just being lazy, I can’t think of a single reason.

You cant even imagine how many times I see people do this. I actually had an incident at a local grocery store when a cart hit my car and made a nice dent which they paid for ofcourse but its a pain in the butt. I don’t understand why people are so lazy!

Hey Enkay – Thanks for stopping by! You’re lucky that your dent repair was paid for! I’m wondering how many people have damage to their car and never see a dime. Not cool!!

I admit it! I have done it probably about 3 times. All times due to weather, a parking spot too far away from a legit cart-drop zone, and having a little one or two or three, below-zero temps or extremely heavy rain without an umbrella- a combination of all 4, not just one factor. Just not comfortable sticking them in the car with it running to warm it up for them, to de-ice the windshield, or keep them dry while I unload the cart and then walking far enough away that someone could take my car quicker than I could get back to it. The video clip of that woman hanging from her car window as she clung to her car when someone took it from her in a parking lot with her child(ren) inside made me very wary of that. I always make sure to stick it on a diagonal and kick a wheel in an opposite direction so it doesn’t roll or prop 2 of the wheels up on an island holding a tree so it doesn’t roll!

Okay Chris – I’ll give you a pass on the above situation as I live in AZ and don’t deal with below zero temps. Though we do have nasty little monsoons that sweep in and create havoc. At least you fessed up. I have a few people who contacted me on the sly and said they were “guilty” but they didn’t have any excuses or reasons such as yours.
