It’s time for a new word!

I was on the treadmill (yes, I’m actually working out more while on a pseudo vacation than during my normal routine…hey, I have to work off the Vegas buffets, right?) and I realized that I need to come up with a new term for the type of writing I do.

When I tell people I’m a writer, I invariably get asked “Oh, what do you write?” or “What kind of writer?”

And, as experienced in marketing as I am, and as much as I KNOW that I should have a 7-second snippet that summarizes my work in the most scintillating yet succinct manner…uh, yeah…I still tend to over-explain what I do.

Sure, it’s business writing. I write anything from books to articles to marketing copy for business people.

But it’s also creative writing. I have to develop a tone, a voice. Be it sarcastic, humorous, dry, casual. I have to weave a personality into that business writing.

I don’t write stuffy. I don’t write bore you to tears stuff. And that’s what people think when you tell them “I’m a business writer.”

It’s certainly not romantic. Or sexy. Or anything that sounds all that interesting.

So it’s time for a new term. Any ideas??

Crusiness writing sounds like something a 90 year old man with no teeth would do.

Bustive writing sounds like I’m writing either about explosives or breast enhancement.

I suppose I could start introducing myself as a creative business writer. Still a little dry, but not as dry as plain ol’ business writer.

I need to come up with a new word. Or just a better 7-second snippet about what I do.

:-) This happens to me and I just tell them that I am an ” Online content developer” — this term is so fancy and widespread that I can insert all those projects my fickle-minded head lets me do under one fictitious roof.

a 7 second snippet? – It forced me to think and I wish no one has by brain coz it rarely springs up anything worthwhile..
