When’s A Girl To Write?

The last few weeks feel like a whirlwind of activity. After our trip to CA to watch a live show taping (and a sad walk along a grimy Hollywood Boulevard), we had a few other weekends that were spoken for. And then we spent a week at Disney World in Orlando.

It was a big deal. Definitely not in the budget, but sometimes you just have to make things happen. The first half of 2018 was rough. We lost our little boy, Weston, at 22 weeks. I almost died. (Literally – I’m not trying to say that it was just from emotional pain and grieving.) Recovery felt like it took forever. Then I had to have another major surgery. And another recovery that was no fun.

We wanted to make sure that 2018 wasn’t full of sad and depressing memories. We wanted to make a few happier ones. And the kids aren’t getting any younger. Anyone with teens knows that you have a limited time to still go on vacation with them before it turns into a very unpleasant experience. Thankfully, D is still young enough at heart to want to go to Disney parks and yuck it up with us.

So a family trip to Disney World for Fall Break was it.

To anyone who has never been…I strongly, STRONGLY suggest to not go to Florida anytime between April and November. It was sweltering the first week of October. Ugly hot. Humid as hell.

We’re from Arizona. And while we may live in a more temperate mountain town now, we used to live in the HOT as HELL Phoenix valley. I felt like we should’ve been able to take the Orlando Heat a bit better. But that humidity – it was a killer!!!

Anyways, I could ramble on forever about the different rides. The heat. The food. The awesome Shades of Green resort. The heat. The miles I racked up on my FitBit.

But it boils down to this: I have written squatola in the last several weeks. Seriously pitiful. I failed to set deadlines for myself and this is the result. We make plans and life rolls on, without me hitting my word count. No bueno.

So, life is good. Writing, not so much.
